Fishing 

A navy blue Fishing icon showing a fish next to a fishing hook and line.Fishing has been a popular activity at Lake Pleasant since the Arizona Game and Fish Department began stocking fish after construction of the original Waddell Dam and diversion dam.

Today, the lake supports a variety of warm-water sport fish. Species commonly found in Lake Pleasant include:

  • White Bass
  • Striped Bass
  • Largemouth Bass
  • Bluegill
  • White Crappie
  • Black Crappie
  • Bigmouth Buffalo
  • Channel Catfish
  • Flathead Catfish
  • Green Sunfish
  • Redear Sunfish
  • Tilapia

Throughout the year, Lake Pleasant hosts several organized fishing tournaments.

Fishing Requirements

A valid Arizona fishing license is required for anglers age 10 and older.
