Annual Trail Construction Plan

The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department utilizes the Trails Management Manual which outlines the standards and guidelines for planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the trails and track systems for the department.


The following trails have been identified for construction, maintenance, or repair work during FY16. However, unforeseen circumstances could result in the trails crew being rerouted to either another park or trail for unplanned maintenance. 

  • White Tank:
    • Clean up Mesquite Trail starting at Area 7 about 3.0 miles
      • Improve drainage
      • Fill ruts
      • Reconstruct eroded areas
    • Repair and general maintenance of competitive track. About recon and repair as needed
      • Fill ruts     
      • Rake loose rock    
      • Repair drainages
    • Repair and reconstruct Goat Camp Trail about 2 miles.
      • Improve drainage
      • Fill ruts         
      • Reconstruct eroded areas
  • Estrella:
    • Repair and general maintenance of competitive track. About 4.0 miles
    • Recon and repair as needed
    • Fill ruts
    • Rake loose rock
    • Repair drainages   
    • Short reroutes as needed
    • Layout and construction of connector trail from track parking lot to Gadsden Trail about 3.5 miles.  
  • Cave Creek:
    • Overton reroute, layout, and construction about one mile.
