Horseback Riding
Equestrians are welcome to explore Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area with their own horses. To help protect the park’s natural and cultural resources, riders must remain on designated trails at all times.
All trails are multi-use unless otherwise posted, so riders should practice proper trail etiquette and yield appropriately to other users.
Horse Staging Area
A designated horse staging area is available for loading, unloading, and preparing horses for the trail. Please refer to the park map for staging location and approved trail access.
Trails
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area offers over 12 miles of trails, with individual segments ranging from approximately 0.2 to 5.2 miles. Trails vary in difficulty from easy to challenging, providing options for a range of riding abilities.
One of the more notable routes is the Elephant Mountain Trail, a scenic and challenging ride that leads toward the boundary of the Tonto National Forest. Due to rugged terrain, this trail is best suited for experienced riders.
The park’s higher elevation and dense vegetation create a unique desert riding experience not commonly found in other regional parks.
