Picnicking
McDowell Mountain Regional Park offers two picnic areas with a total of 88 picnic sites. Each site includes a picnic table and barbecue grill, with nearby restrooms. Nearby, you'll find a shaded nature-themed playground for the kiddos.
Picnic areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are required.
Picnic Areas
Ironwood Picnic Area
- Open year-round
- Provides easy access to restrooms, playgrounds, and nearby trails
- Suitable for families and small groups
Paloverde Picnic Area
- Open seasonally (typically September through April)
- Closed during the summer months (May through August)
- Offers shaded areas and scenic desert surroundings
Additional Information
- Accessible parking and pathways are available near picnic areas.
- Visitors are encouraged to pack out all trash and leave the area clean.
- Please follow all park rules, including fire restrictions when in effect.
