Camping at McDowell Mountain Regional Park

McDowell Mountain Regional Park offers 92 individual campsites and several group camping options, all set within the scenic Sonoran Desert. Campers can enjoy sweeping mountain views and peaceful desert surroundings from every site.

Individual Campgrounds 

E.I. Rowland Campground (Developed Sites)

  • 76 sites for RV or tent camping
  • Water and electric hookups (20, 30, and 50 amp)
  • Picnic table and barbecue fire ring at each site
  • Restrooms with showers are located throughout the campground
  • RV dump station available for registered campers

Ironwood Campground (Semi-Developed Sites)

  • 16 sites for tents or small camping units (maximum 16-foot trailer)
  • No water or electricity at individual sites
  • Picnic table, barbecue fire ring, and tent area at each site
  • Parking varies by site (back-in, pull-through, or parking lot style)
  • Shared restroom and water spigot available nearby

Group Camping

The park offers three group camping areas for larger gatherings. Group sites require a minimum reservation of five camping units and can be reserved up to one year in advance.


Group Campground

  • Accommodates up to 15 large camping units
  • Restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers
  • Covered ramada with picnic tables
  • Large barbecue grill and campfire ring

Youth Group Area

  • Accommodates up to 20 large camping units
  • Available for youth, scout, and other organized groups
  • Large parking area
  • Portable restrooms (port-a-johns)
  • Water spigot, shaded picnic tables, grills, and a fire ring

Minks Camp

  • Accommodates up to 10 small camping units
  • Small parking area
  • Portable restrooms (port-a-johns)
  • Shaded picnic tables, grills, and a fire ring
