Watch the sun paint the desert as the stars come out on a hike through lush Sonoran Desert Habitat with Ranger Derik. Click program title for more details.

The hike will cover 3 miles on sandy open trail through trees, brush, and towering Saguaro cacti with sweeping views of the McDowell and Superstition Mountain ranges. All hikers must have water, sturdy shoes, and a flashlight. If you would like to bring black lights along you are more than welcome but you don’t need to buy one if you don’t have one. In the first half of the hike we will learn about cacti and how they have survived in the desert with a multitude of adaptation. In the second half of the hike after the sun sets we will talk about stars and hunt for nocturnal critters including scorpions. Water and bathrooms can be located just before the trailhead along Asher View Drive.
