Join Ranger Olivia on a hike to look for scorpions and other nocturnal creatures that call Spur Cross Ranch home. Click program title for more details.

We will be looking for wildlife in the dark so make sure to pack flashlights and blacklights, if you have them, and make sure everything is charged or you have extra batteries. We will be hiking along a portion of the Spur Cross trail to start and then connect onto the Tortuga trail for a total of about 2 miles during our safari! These portions of the trails are rated easy-moderate with both flat and rocky/uneven parts as well as some sandy areas, please be sure to wear close toed shoes. There is slight elevation change and declines along the path. There are restrooms but NO potable water at the trailhead so be sure to bring plenty of water as it will still be warm during this time. Please no pets! Spur Cross is CASH ONLY, please bring $5 per person for the entry fee.

PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status. Please check the program listing online before coming to the park.

MEETING LOCATION: Picnic Tables past the entry booth
