Join Ranger Derik on an easy/moderate hike to watch the sunset, the moonrise and

Ranger Derik will lead this 3 mile hike to hunt for scorpions and look for other nocturnal. We will listen for coyote and owl calls and watch for bat silhouettes against the dimly lit sky. Bring your blacklight and regular flashlight to look for other evening critters such as scorpions, kangaroo rats, stink bugs and more. The route uses Slate Trail for a 3-mile out and back. The terrain ranges from even and smooth to uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. No pets, please. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water.
