Join Ranger Jacque on this guided hike to explore three fascinating rock art sites and one ancient Hohokam ruins site, all nestled along a scenic trail less than 2 miles long.

Join us for a unique guided hike under 2 miles, exploring three remarkable rock art sites and one Hohokam ruins site along the way. This moderate trail includes a sandy wash section, rocky terrain, and a steep incline with over 100 feet of elevation gain. Be prepared for warm conditions—dress accordingly, bring plenty of water, and pack a snack if you like. No dogs, please. A portable toilet is available near the trailhead, but there are no water fountains. Note that the trailhead is almost a quarter mile walk from the parking lot, and only cash is accepted at the contact station. Please allow time to park and self pay.

Preservation: The Hohokam archaeological sites are protected by Arizona law (Arizona Revised Statutes § 41- 841 et seq.) and may only be accessed with a ranger. Participants are encouraged to be site stewards to help preserve these special native protected areas.

MEETING LOCATION: Picnic tables at trailhead area, past contact booth Map of meeting location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/YyfzZaymPR8HAV787

Bring $3 (exact change) cash per person for park entry fee (no cards or other forms of payment accepted). Limit 15 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at 602-506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status.
