Join us for a unique guided hike under 2 miles, exploring three remarkable rock art sites and one Hohokam ruins site along the way. This moderate trail includes a sandy wash section, rocky terrain, and a steep incline with over 100 feet of elevation gain. Be prepared for warm conditions—dress accordingly, bring plenty of water, and pack a snack if you like. No dogs, please. A portable toilet is available near the trailhead, but there are no water fountains. Note that the trailhead is almost a quarter mile walk from the parking lot, and only cash is accepted at the contact station. Please allow time to park and self pay.
Preservation: The Hohokam archaeological sites are protected by Arizona law (Arizona Revised Statutes § 41- 841 et seq.) and may only be accessed with a ranger. Participants are encouraged to be site stewards to help preserve these special native protected areas.
PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status. Please check the program listing online or call the Nature Center before coming to the park.
