If you like to mountain bike but don’t want to go alone, or if you’re looking for a long and rewarding ride on some spectacular desert trails, this program is for you! We will be pedaling the segments of the Pemberton, Tonto Tank, Boulder, Rock Knob, Bluff and Granite trails, which will take us on a long, 12-mile loop. Trails are rated moderate-to-difficult, so expect loose rock, uneven terrain, elevation change and patches of deep, sandy soil. We’ll stop at different points along the route to examine some interesting plants and geology. At the same time, we’ll keep our eyes open for wildlife. Sunscreen and hats are always recommended. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, bring plenty of water, electrolytes, snacks, and dress for the weather. You must bring your own bicycle, helmet, and tire repair kit. Restrooms and water are available near the trailhead. NO pets, please.

IMPORTANT: Every rider is required to wear a helmet. Those without a helmet will not be allowed to join this program.

Note: This is not a program for beginning mountain bike riders. All riders are expected to know the rules of the trail in advance, as well as have experience with riding on mountain trails. All riders are responsible for maintaining control of their bikes (and speed) at all times. Those riding electric bikes are advised to make sure your bike can handle true mountain trails and also to be mindful of the fact that breakdowns can happen while far from any help. Even repairing a flat tire can be much more time-consuming and require more technical knowledge than repairing a regular bike. The Ranger is not equipped/nor is permitted to repair participants' bikes.

MEETING LOCATION: Trailhead Staging Area (end of Shallmo Road).
