Join Ranger Derik on a summit hike to overlook the lake and take in the stars! Click program title for more details

The hike will cover 3 miles and gain 343ft in elevation on rocky trail. There are a few loose sections of trail and areas with steep drop-offs so if you have difficulty with balance sturdy hiking shoes and trekking poles are strongly encouraged. As you will be hiking at night all hikers will need flashlights with a full charge or extra batteries. If you have them feel free to bring along blacklights to help the ranger hunt for scorpions. Please not that cell phone lights will not be bright enough. Bathrooms are located at the trailhead but please make sure to bring plenty of water with you. MEETING LOCATION: Cottonwood Day Use Area Precise Meeting Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8dHzVYQ6GPGcUdu19 To register, please email Ranger at derik.rodgers@maricopa.gov with your name, program date, program name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email back ASAP so those on the waiting list may be contacted. Registration for this program will close on 6/3/26. PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status. Please check the program listing online before coming to the park.
