Ranger Nikki will lead you on an easy walk to enjoy our Sonoran Desert in the glow of moonlight. We will also be on the lookout for nocturnal critters such as scorpions, bats, owls, tarantulas and more. The route follows Coldwater Trail for an out-and-back easy to moderate walk covering 2 to 2.5 miles in total. The terrain on Coldwater is mostly smooth and flat but there will be a few areas with small to medium rocks underfoot. Bring your blacklight and a regular flashlight. No pets, please. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the nearby Rainbow Valley Trailhead and there is a portable restroom at Coldwater Trailhead. Please bring $7 exact cash for the self-pay station or your annual pass to display on your vehicle.
Please note: Summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website is the best resource for verifying the program’s current status, so please check the program listing prior to departing for your scheduled program.
