Edible Desert Plants Hike (Registration Required, Limit 15 Participants)

Friday, April 03, 2026
08:30 AM - 11:00 AM
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
16300 McDowell Mountain Park Dr.
Fountain Hills, AZ 85268

(602) 506-2930 ext 3

Spend the morning hiking through the desert with Ranger Jacque and learn about the many medicinal and edible plants that can be found in your own backyard. Click program title for more details.

Participants will hike for 3 miles through rolling hills and sandy washes on the North Loop trail. The trail is rated as easy and only has a few spots that could be described as rocky. Ranger Jacque will talk about the native edible plants as well as medicinal plants that are found along the trail. All plants are subject to seasonal changes, so we cannot determine which plants will be fruiting at the time of the program. The trailhead is a couple of miles past the Contact Station and has no bathroom or water fountain (though these are located nearby in adjacent lots); please make sure to plan ahead and allow extra time to arrive at the trailhead, a 10-minute drive from the park entry.

MEETING LOCATION: North Loop Trailhead
