biters! Join Ranger Jacque to learn the truth about rattlesnakes, Gila monsters, scorpions, and other desert dwellers you may encounter during this Discovery Station about Venomous Creatures. Click program title for more details.
It can seem like everything in the desert is out to sting, bite, or poke you. Ranger Jacque will uncover common myths versus the real lives of these animals, from their incredible survival adaptations to the vital roles they play in our ecosystem. You might even be surprised to learn that far more lives have actually been saved by snake-derived medical research than have been lost to snake encounters! Drop on by for this unstructured, informal come and go style ranger table, where you can have a look at some of the venomous creatures behind glass, examine some artifacts, and learn that maybe the desert isn’t nearly as scary as you thought. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.
