Discovery Station: Meet the Critters
It’s a Halloween edition of Meet the Critters! Stop by the Nature Center and Ranger Nikki will show you why San Tan’s scaly, fuzzy and even pokey animal ambassadors are not so creepy after all. This is a drop-in, come-and-go program. Click program title for more details.
Ranger Nikki will introduce you to San Tan’s animal ambassadors, including snakes, a chuckwalla, a tarantula, a Gila monster and tortoises. Learn about their life cycles, adaptations and what you should do if you encounter their relatives on the trail. Even though some of these creatures are associated with a “scary” Halloween vibe, we’ll bust some myths and give you the real deal on these often-misunderstood desert dwellers. Activity sheets and coloring pages will be available for the kids. If you plan to hike before or after the program, be sure to wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.
