Join Ranger Shaun in the light of a waning full moon to look for critters in the dark! Click program title for more details.

The full moon peaked a day or so ago, but it’s still a great night for a hike! With flashlights and blacklights in hand we’ll make our way around the Quail, Saddle, Parts of Baseline, and Gila trails, then work our way back along the park road and turf area to the Nature Center.

Most of our hiking will be along easy trails with some medium difficult spots due to some incline and rocky areas. The difficulty is increased somewhat by the dark conditions and lingering heat of the day. Water and restrooms will be available at the nature center. Closed toe shoes, water bottles with drinking water, and a flashlight are required. UV lights and walking sticks or poles are recommended. No pets.

While this is an all-ages event, please be aware of your child(ren)’s sensitivity to or fear of the dark. The desert can be spooky at night and what is intimidating for an adult can be terrifying for a child.
