Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with Ranger Jacque under the glow of the Full Buck Moon! Click on program title for more details.

Celebrate the America 250 milestone by experiencing one of the most iconic sights in the desert! Join Ranger Jacque for a guided evening hike to see the full moon rise over the mountains—a celestial event that has inspired explorers, settlers, and indigenous peoples throughout 250 years of our nation's story.

This 2-mile hike is rated easy to moderate with slight elevation gain, some rocky paths, and hilly features. We will hike Moonlight, Stargazer, and San Tan trails in a loop, and as darkness falls, look for signs of the desert coming to life after dark.

Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, bring plenty of water, and carry a handheld flashlight (please refrain from using headlamps to preserve our night vision). Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.

PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status. Please check the program listing online or call the Nature Center before coming to the park.
