Have you ever wanted to get out in the desert but aren’t sure where to start? If so, then come on out to White Tank Mtn Park to learn how to start hiking safely. Click program title for more.
Bring a lunch and an open mind and learn from ranger Derik how to start hiking in our desert parks. Topics covered in the program will include how to choose a trail, how to prepare for a hike, how much water to bring, desert safety, what gear to bring, what clothing to wear, and much more. A sample pack will also be on display so you can see what a ranger carries on a day hike. This is a learning experience so feel free to ask any questions you may have and bring your gear if you would like it to be checked over by a professional.
