Crews will be using heavy equipment in the river floodplain and El-Rio Research Trail Area at Estrella Mountain Regional Park to remove tamarisk trees and shrubs using a bobcat and a masticator. The masticator will be used to grind and shred the vegetation into wood chips, which will be deposited on site.
The El-Rio parking lot will be closed during this time to allow the crews to do the work safely. Please DO NOT enter the area. The work area is highlighted in yellow on the map above.
