Southbound Arizona State Route 85 (SR 85) near Buckeye Hills Drive
The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will be constructing a dedicated southbound right-turn lane at Buckeye Hills Drive off of southbound SR 85 in partnership with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) beginning Monday, December 1 through late December, 2025. This project will improve traffic flow for southbound traffic on SR 85 by creating a new right turn lane from SR 85 onto Buckeye Hills Drive. This will assist drivers needing to turn into the Buckeye Hills Regional Park. Construction is located on SR 85 within ADOT right-of-way at Buckeye Hills Drive to approximately 800 feet north of the intersection and includes widening the southbound lanes within the project area to create the dedicated right turn lane.
The project includes:
- Widening the roadway to provide a right-turn lane from southbound SR 85 to Buckeye Hills Drive; the project extends to approximately
- 800 feet north of the intersection.
- Installing a Right Turn Only sign in the area of improvement.
- Applying new asphalt, roadway striping, and other associated finishing work.
- Cleaning up the work zone and other miscellaneous work.
During construction delays in travel can be anticipated and it is advised to allow for extra time for travel in the area. Access from SR 85 to Buckeye Hills Drive will be maintained at all times. Please watch for work crews, reduce speeds and follow all traffic control signs.
Work Schedule:
- Where: Southbound SR 85 from Buckeye Hills Drive to approximately 800 feet north of the intersection.
- When: Monday, December 1, 2025 through late December, 2025.
- Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- No weekend or holiday work is anticipated.
