April’s here, the nights should be warming up and that should bring back the SCORPIONS! Ranger Shaun’s going to check. Click program title for more details.

Traditional wisdom holds that rattlesnakes and scorpions all start showing up around the same time of year. NOW! Ranger Shaun’s ready to get started on this season’s run! You’re invited to come along for the first official Scorpion Hunt with Ranger Shaun! For this excursion, we’ll be scoping out Desert Hawk Trail, a 0.5-mile loop hike located near (and starting from) the nature center. Equipped with blacklights and flashlights, we’ll brave the chill early spring evening and see if scorpions can really follow a calendar. Along the way we may also see other cool bugs or night critters. Restrooms and water will be available near the nature center at the beginning and end of the trail. Recommend bringing a flashlight (and blacklight if you have one), a jacket, water bottle, walking stick if you like, and wearing closed toed shoes. While children are encouraged, very young children may be uncomfortable in the dark or if the weather is particularly chilly. NO PETS PLEASE.

MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center Parking lot

Limit 10 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 4 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 3/30/24.
