Come join Ranger Derik on a hike through the desert and learn about the cacti that call the Sonoran Desert home.
The hike will follow sections of the Spur Cross and Metate Trails for 3 miles as the path moves from desert landscape down into riparian habitat. Hikers will be rewarded with impressive saguaro cacti and a variety of cholla species. The trails are rated as easy-moderate, but it can be sandy and rocky at times so make sure to wear proper footwear and please bring plenty of water. The hike will begin from the covered picnic tables just past the entry station. There are now water fountains at the trailhead but please plan accordingly.
Limit 20 participants. To register, please email Ranger Derik at derik.rodgers@maricopa.gov with your name, phone number and the number of participants in your party. If you are unable to attend the hike, please email back as soon as possible to those on the wait list can be added to the hike. Registration for this program will close on 03/06/2023.
