Volunteer Positions & Applications Photos

Park Host

Park Hosts assist the Park Supervisors and serve as ambassadors to provide park visitors with information while promoting resource protection and recreation opportunities through visitor education. Each host couple works a minimum of 40-hours per week and lives in the park with complimentary access to water and electricity. Duties may include fee collection, light maintenance work, clerical tasks, and special projects under the supervision of the Park Supervisor. In addition, a lot of walking may be required to perform these duties.

Community Volunteer

Community Volunteers assist in all areas of the park from trail work to programs under the supervision of the Park Supervisor. Volunteers provide park visitors with information and promote resource protection and recreation opportunities through visitor education and other volunteer assignments. It is recommended that a volunteer consider one (or two) opportunities that best match his/her individual interests and skills.

Episodic Volunteer

An episodic volunteer provides one day of service within the park or along the trails. This is generally done with a group as a group project or a special day of service. Volunteers need to apply through the volunteer coordinator in order to schedule a project according to each park’s needs.

Administrative Volunteer

The department headquarters and administrative staff at Lake Pleasant Regional Park needs assistance with filing, tagging of souvenirs and other general administrative duties. This is an important position and a great opportunity to help with the administrative needs of the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department in an urban setting.

Cave Creek Regional Park Plant Inventory Volunteer Opportunity

Cave Creek Regional Park is conducting an inventory of its plants and you can help. If you are interested in learning more about desert plants, meandering through and photographing plants and their habitats, or if you’ve ever thought it would be fun to be a citizen scientist, then please think about joining us on one of the dates below. Once you sign up, you will go out on a hike with Kara Barron, a Plant Biology and Conservation Master’s student from Arizona State University, as she catalogs the plants at the park. You can help by either photographing, pressing, and/or recording valuable information about the plants at Cave Creek. No experience is necessary, but space for each date is limited so please contact Kara at for more detailed information and to sign up. Here are the dates that have been scheduled so far:

  • Saturday March 25th
  • Saturday, April 1st
  • Saturday, April 8th
  • Saturday April 22nd
  • Saturday April 29th
