Join Ranger Eric for a guided loop hike on the Metate Trail and part of the Spur Cross Trail as we learn all about plants and ecology of the Sonoran Desert, including our most iconic cactus, the saguaro. Along parts of Metate Trail, we will see some of the largest saguaros you can find anywhere, which are probably pushing 150-200 years old! We will enjoy fantastic scenery of the surrounding mountains along the way. We will hike for 2-3 hours (depending on the pace of our group) on easy to moderate grade, with frequently rocky or uneven ground. Please wear sturdy footwear and sun protection, and carry ample water, electrolytes, and snacks for yourself. Portapotties and fee station are located 200 ft beyond the parking lot where we will meet. No water available, so please bring your own.

Self-pay station with envelopes can be found 0.25-mile up the trail/road from the parking lot by the portapotties and picnic table ramada where we will meet for the hike.
