Learn about the Sonoran Desert in springtime with a chance to see wildflowers and blooming shrubs. Late fall rains provided a start for the flower season so there may be a continuation of blooms or even a second round for spring. Possible sightings include poppies, lupine, desert hyacinth, fairy duster, globemallow and more.
Ranger Shaun will lead you along Spur Cross and Metate Trails to make a roughly 2- mile loop. The terrain ranges from flat and even to rocky and uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and sun-protective clothing. There is NO water available at the park so please bring plenty of your own. Portable restrooms are available at the Trailhead.
