It’s time again for the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation annual 100-mile trail challenge! The challenge runs from November 1 to February 8, encouraging participants to hike 100 miles within 100 days. This 5-mile out-and-back fitness hike with Ranger Jacque will take you along the Cottonwood Trail and Pipeline Canyon Trail to the floating bridge and back. The hike features 200-300 feet of elevation change and you can expect rocky and potentially narrow sections of trail; rated moderate in difficulty.
Please wear sturdy, close-toed shoes, bring plenty of water, and sun protection (hat, sunscreen). Restrooms are available at the trailhead. No pets, please.
Important note on arrival: Please allow ample time to reach the trailhead, as this program meets on the north side of Lake Pleasant, not at the main park entry. To get there, take Castle Hot Springs Road north until the road ends; turn right to the ranger booth. Be prepared for a $7 per vehicle entry fee (annual pass or same day receipt) and potential wait times at the contact station. Follow the main road into the park, and park at Cottonwood Day Use on the right. We will meet at the Yavapai Point Trailhead.
MEETING LOCATION: Yavapai Point Trailhead
Limit 25 participants. To register, please email jacqueline.vallejos@maricopa.gov with your name, phone number and number of people attending. Registration for this program will close on 11/01/25.
