The hike will cover 3.2 miles on sandy flat trail along the Grey Fox, Ironwood, and Ford Canyon trails. Hikers should have 2 liters of water and wear closed-toe shoes. Hiking poles or a walking stick can be helpful. There is no water at the trailhead so make sure to have plenty with you when you arrive. Also, it is not a bad idea to have a bottle in the car (frozen or on ice) for when you get back. There is a portable restroom at the trailhead and standard facilities at Area 4 on your way there.
