Morning Cactus Hike (Registration Required, Limit 30 Participants)

Curious about the plants that poke in the desert? Then come out for a morning hike with Ranger Derik. Click program title for more details.

The hike will cover cacti that are found in the park and talk about their fruit, flowers, importance to the native wildlife, and how and when to harvest/ prepare them as food. The hike will cover 3 miles out and back on the Grey Fox trail at the far end of the park. Hikers shoe come prepared with water, protective clothing, boots/ sneakers, and hiking poles are not required but encouraged for those that have trouble on uneven trail. Bathrooms and water can be found along the main road into the park but not at the Grey Fox trailhead. 

MEETING LOCATION: Grey Fox trailhead near competitive track. Please allow 10-15 minutes to get from the main entrance to the starting trailhead.

Limit 30 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 5with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
