The Hunter’s Moon hangs high in the sky. Let’s see what we can find in the park as the cooler evening temps slip back in! As the month winds down, the desert is finishing up its summer routine and finally breaking into the fall patterns as temperatures come down and precipitation gets whispered about hopefully among the waiting hedgerows. It’ll be dark so flashlights are required, as are closed toe shoes and water bottles. Blacklights (UV) can help reveal lurking scorpions, but the Ranger will have at least one. Hike or walking sticks are generally not needed but some people find them helpful to have along. This will be a roughly 2-mile hike along an easy-moderate trail made slightly more difficult by the dark.
