Stop by the Nature Center to learn about our summer monsoon and how to stay safe when Mother Nature livens things up with downpours, dust and thunderstorms. Click program title for more details.

Will this year be a monsoon year? Forecasts are hinting we may see higher than average storm activity this summer. Visit the Nature Center to chat with Ranger Nikki about the seasonal shift in weather patterns that can bring about unpredictable and extreme conditions – haboobs, wind, downpours, flash flooding, hail, lightning, and even tornadoes. Learn about some of the conditions that contribute to this weather, why the rainy season is important to desert plants and animals and how you can stay safe when the weather gets wild. The information table will be set up from 8am to 10am so stop by at your leisure. If you are recreating before or after the program, remember your closed-toe shoes, sun-protective clothing and plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.

MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center

No registration required. Just stop by any time between 8:00am and 10:00am!
