Learn about the Sonoran Desert in springtime with a chance to see early wildflowers and blooming shrubs. Depending on winter rainfall received there may be signs of poppies, lupine, desert hyacinth, fairy duster, globemallow and more. Ranger Nikki will lead you along Spur Cross and Metate Trails to make a 2-mile loop. The terrain ranges from flat and even to rocky and uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. There is also a morning option for this hike from 9:30-11:30am. Wear closed-toe shoes and sun-protective clothing. There is NO water available at the park so please bring plenty of your own. Portable restrooms are available at the Trailhead.
