If your goal is to see wildlife, monsoon season is a great time for an evening hike! We’ll be taking a roughly three-mile hike along the Spur Cross and Dragonfly Loop trails, and all the while we’ll be on the lookout for a variety of evening-active critters, from skunks to scorpions, spiders, snakes, Gila monsters, coyotes, deer, owls and more! The trail is rated moderately difficult, with long stretches of rocky, uneven surfaces and some elevation change. There is no drinking water available within Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area, so please bring plenty of water and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Bring flashlights (red light is preferred); black UV lights are optional.
MEETING LOCATION: Spur Cross trailhead at covered picnic tables and restrooms
Please note: Entry to Spur Cross Conservation Area is $5 per person. Cash only is accepted. If entry station is closed, please place your money in the payment box at the gate.
Please note: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events.
