Discover the mystery and intrigue of the desert as darkness settles over the landscape. Led by Ranger Jacque, this 2-mile loop hike traverses the Metate and section of Spur Cross trails. Along the way, we will listen and look for nocturnal residents such as scorpions, owls, bats, and more. The hike is rated as medium difficulty due to sections of large rocks and gradual elevation changes. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water, as there is no drinking water available at the park. Bring a hand-held flashlight and a black light if you have one (optional).
Note on arrival: The meeting location at the trailhead is almost a quarter mile walk from the main parking lot; please allow extra time to park and reach the group. Entry to the park is $5 cash per person (exact change only); credit cards and mobile payments are not accepted.
