Join Ranger Jacque on an easy walk to look for and identify our desert feathered friends and their homes. Click program title for more details.
On this walk near the Nature Center, Ranger Jacque will lead the way as we look for birds and try to spot their homes camouflaged among the cholla cacti and trees. The route follows a portion of Desert Hawk Trail over to the campground, where we will walk on paved roadways. The terrain is rated easy and in mainly flat and even with small rocks underfoot. You can also learn about ways to help with bird identification using books and apps. (This walk is followed by a separate indoor class. See listing for Intro to Desert Birding). Wear closed-toe shoes and bring water, a hat, binoculars (suggested) and sunscreen. A limited number of binoculars will be available for loan if you do not have your own. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.
