Join Ranger Eric for a short hike to explore the rich riparian and aquatic life of this desert oasis. We will look at aquatic organisms around Palm Lake and in the Hassayampa River, then look at some samples under a microscope back in the Visitor Center. Please wear sturdy footwear and sun protection, carry ample water and electrolytes for yourself, and pre-hydrate beforehand. All ages welcome! We will hike about 0.25-mile at most, depending on the heat. The trails are mostly level, but with some sandy or uneven surfaces along the river trails; Palm Lake is barrier-free and navigable in wheelchair or with stroller though. If the weather forecast for the day ends up being hot temperatures, the hike may be skipped, but Ranger Eric will still have the microscope and aquatic samples available inside the air-conditioned Visitor Center to see.
