America 250: “Stars and Stripe”-Gazing (Registration Required, Limit 20 Participants)

Join Ranger Kevin for a very special evening of early summer stargazing in commemoration of America’s 250th birthday! Click program title for more details.

Clear skies permitting, we’ll be viewing a selection of objects through a portable telescope. We will be focusing on stars and searching for the stripe that marks the path of the Milky Way across the summer sky. We’ll also seek out things like planets, galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters! In honor of America 250we’ll be hearing about the important contributions made through our history by astronomers in Arizona. Bring your sky-related questions! Family friendly program. Restrooms are available nearby. NO pets, please. 
MEETING LOCATION: North trailhead. Please note that it takes an ADDITIONAL 10-15 minutes to get to the meeting location from the park entry station.

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 3 with your name, phone number, and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 06/22. 

Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status.
