The US National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for our area. Maricopa County Parks & Recreation takes the safety of our visitors seriously. As such, to align with local weather officials' recommendation of avoiding outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, the decision has been made to cancel this program. This website is the best source of up-to-date information about the status of Ranger programs. We hope you'll check back here and consider attending another of our many upcoming programs!
We’ll be on the lookout for all kinds of evening-active critters, from skunks to, spiders, snakes, fox, coyote, deer, owls and of course scorpions! Bring flashlights; black UV lights are optional. We will be hiking along Rock Peak Wash for our safari! This trail is rated easy with most of the trail being sandy and some rocky/uneven parts, and a total of about 2 miles. There are NO restrooms at the trailhead. Please no pets!

If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 08/20/25.
