Horseback Riding | McDowell Mountain Regional Park

Equestrian Use

Equestrians are welcome to ride their own horses in the park. Riders must remain on designated trails at all times.

All trails are multi-use unless otherwise posted. Please practice proper trail etiquette and share the trail with hikers and cyclists.

McDowell Mountain Regional Park offers more than 40 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

  • Trail lengths range from 0.5 miles to 15.3 miles
  • Difficulty levels range from easy to strenuous

Recommended Trails

  • North Trail (3.1 miles): A good option for an easier, shorter ride or hike
  • Pemberton Trail (15.3 miles): A longer route for a more challenging experience

Plan Ahead

Before heading out:

  • Carry plenty of water for both you and your horse
  • Share your route and expected return time with someone
  • Be prepared for desert conditions
