To make the day even better, the $10 per- vehicle day-use entry fee will be waived at all Maricopa County regional parks. Any additional applicable fees will still apply.

With more than 600 miles of trails throughout the regional park system, National Take a Hike Day is a great opportunity to explore a new trail, enjoy cooler fall temperatures, or add a few more miles toward the annual 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge.

“Maricopa County’s regional parks offer iconic desert views mixed with urban backdrops that can’t be experienced anywhere else,” said Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chair Kate Brophy McGee, District 3. “National Take a Hike Day gives us an opportunity to step away from our busy schedules, spend time outdoors with family and friends, and discover the incredible trails and open spaces our regional parks protect for everyone to enjoy.”

“Our regional parks offer so many ways to get outside, stay active, and experience the beauty of the Sonoran Desert,” said Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Debbie Lesko, District 4. “Whether you’re returning to a favorite trail or visiting a park for the first time, I encourage everyone to take advantage of free entry and celebrate National Take a Hike Day with us.”

“After a long Arizona summer, November is a wonderful time to rediscover our trails,” said Jennifer Waller, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Director. “With hundreds of miles to explore, there’s something for nearly every experience level. Whether you’re hiking, trail running, mountain biking, or horseback riding, National Take a Hike Day is a great excuse to get outside, explore somewhere new, and enjoy our regional park system.”
