Celebrate National Take a Hike Day with Ranger Jacque on a scenic 3.7-mile fitness hike.

Celebrate the mental and physical benefits of the outdoors on National Take a Hike Day! To ensure everyone can enjoy this nationally recognized day, the regular day-use entry fee is waived, so entry to the park is free.

This moderate fitness hike covers 3.7 miles with a 400-foot elevation gain along the Spur Cross, Boca Grande, and Dragonfly trails. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water, as there is NO potable water available in the park.

The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation annual 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge is underway! The challenge runs through February 8, and this guided hike is a fantastic opportunity to accumulate miles towards your 100-mile goal.

Entry to Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area is $5 per person (ages 16 and up). CASH only (exact change is appreciated) or a Maricopa County Parks Annual Pass are accepted; credit/debit and mobile payments are not. Please also note that the meeting location at the trailhead is approximately a quarter-mile walk from the main parking lot, so please allow extra time to park, self-pay, and walk to the tables.

MEETING LOCATION: Spur Cross Trailhead at the covered picnic tables.

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Cave Creek Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number, and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 11/15/26.
