In honor of National Take-a-Hike Day, Maricopa County Parks are waiving the entry fee! Come celebrate this day by joining Ranger Eric for a hike of the Baseline loop trail, which is 2.6 miles roundtrip over moderate-rated terrain. This trail has frequent uneven and rocky surfaces, and some elevation gain. We will go at an easy pace though and can stop to catch our breath along the way. The hike may take 2.5-3 hours depending on our pace. Along the way, we will look at plants and wildlife, and learn about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem. Please wear sturdy footwear and sun protection, and carry ample water, snacks, and electrolytes. Restrooms are available near the trailhead.
This hike is a great way to make progress towards your goal if you are participating in Maricopa County Park’s “100 Miles in 100 Days” hiking challenge (Nov. 1-Feb. 8). If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 11/15.
