Join Ranger Jacque to celebrate the start of the Maricopa County Parks annual 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge. This popular challenge, which runs from November 1 to February 8, invites you to hike, run, bike, or horseback ride 100 miles across at least three different county parks to earn a limited-edition finisher's shirt!
This 8.8 mile loop starts at the Nature Center and takes you all the way to the West end of the Park to Granite Tank. We’ll be covering ground on the Wagner, Delsie, and Stoneman Wash Trails, the former two considered easy on a gravelly path with small gradual inclines. Meanwhile, the challenging part of the hike is a two-mile stretch through Stoneman wash, which is sandy underfoot. We’ll be sure to get this out of the way first.
Our total travel time is just under 9 miles with 541 feet of elevation change. Be prepared to be outside for 4-5 hours, which includes breaks.
Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water, electrolytes and salty snacks. Don’t forget a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and hiking poles if you have them (optional). Restrooms and a water fountain are available at the Nature Center, where we’ll meet.
