Shoreline Access

SHORELINE ACCESS

Limited shoreline access for day-use activities, and designated primitive/shoreline camping.

Please note that the water levels at Lake Pleasant Regional Park fluctuate throughout the year, as the lake is a water reservoir for the Central Arizona Project waterway system. High water levels are generally reached in the Spring/Summer.  Low water levels are typically reached in the Fall/Winter.

When water levels are high, shoreline access may be limited for primitive camping and day-use entry. To avoid potential delays, it is recommended you arrive early.  On holidays or busy weekends (i.e. Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, etc.), the park may experience temporary or longer-term park closures, until an appropriate occupancy level can be achieved.

Designated primitive/shoreline camp sites are available. Access will be limited, as phases of shoreline camping are being re-introduced. Shoreline camping will require an assigned campsite parking space and may be reserved online, in person, or via phone. Vehicles will not be allowed along the shoreline, and must park in designated parking space.  Tents will be permitted to be setup along the shoreline with the primitive camping reservation – in areas designated within the primitive campsite area. Camping stays will be permitted up to 14 consecutive nights in the same camp site.  Shoreline campers must camp within the designated areas, or be subject to removal from the park and not be eligible for a camping refund.

The park anticipates the following impacts the following in the coming months:

  • the Concrete Spillway is expected to be under water from January to July.

It is recommended that you visit the main page for the park for updates. Or contact the park at (602) 506-2930 ext. 1. As temperatures warm up, the entry station will become increasingly busy. This may prohibit staff from answering calls.

If an area reaches capacity and has to be closed, an ALERT will be placed in the main ALERT section of the website (top of all pages). The ALERT will remain active until the area can be reopened.

While a campsite in the Roadrunner or Desert Tortoise campground may not be your preferred choice for during your visit, it does ensure that you will have a dedicated space waiting for you. If you are considering a visit over the Memorial Day holiday, you may want to book a site ASAP as there are a limited number of sites still available. Reservations may be booked at maricopacountyparks.org/.

During closures on the west side of Lake Pleasant Regional Park, park visitors may still access the lake via Pleasant Harbor.  Questions regarding Pleasant Harbor's fees and policies should be directed to (928) 501-5253.
