Center Code of Conduct | Desert Outdoor Center at Lake Pleasant

Visitor Guidelines

To help protect the Sonoran Desert landscape and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please follow these guidelines during your visit.

Stay on Designated Paths

  • Please remain on marked walkways and trails.
  • Walking off-trail can damage young plants and increase erosion.

Protect Plants and Wildlife

  • Enjoy flowers and cacti without picking or damaging them.
  • Leave rocks, natural materials, and plant debris where you find them. These provide habitat for desert wildlife.
  • Observe animals from a distance. Do not touch, feed, harass, capture, or injure wildlife.
  • Please do not tap on the glass of animal displays. Loud noises can stress the animals.

Pets

  • Pets are allowed by permission only.
  • Approved animals must remain on a leash at all times.

Food and Dining

  • Food is permitted only in the multi-purpose room, kitchen, or Sunset Terrace Patio.
  • Food is not allowed in dormitories or other areas of the facility.

Restricted Areas

  • The trail leading to the boat dock and the dock itself are not open to visitors.
  • Motorized vehicles must remain on paved roads and in designated parking areas. Vehicles are not permitted near dormitories.

Fire Safety

  • Fires are allowed only in designated areas.
  • Do not build fires on “no-burn” days or during fire restrictions.

Trash and Cleanliness

  • Please dispose of all trash, including cigarette butts, in designated receptacles.
  • Thank you for helping us protect this special place for future visitors.
