    The Prickly Pedal Mountain Bike Race is back! After a three-year COVID hiatus, racers will hit the trails on January 20 at 8:30 am to take on the Maricopa Trail’s aggressive ups and downs along the 36-mile racecourse. The race begins in the Town of Cave Creek, known as a mountain biking community mecca.     The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors issued a formal proclamation in 2005, resolving that each Veterans Day from that point forward would be observed as Military Service Appreciation Day at all Maricopa County regional parks.     The Estrella Mountain Regional Park Competitive Track Parking Area will be closed October 16th to November 14th, due to NASCAR. The competitive track is still open and can be accessed via the main park entry at Casey Abbott and Vineyard Roads.
