Maricopa County Parks Waive Day-Use Entry Fee on November 11 for Veterans

Military Service Appreciation Day - November 11. The day-use entry fee into all Maricopa County regional parks will be waived for active and inactive military personnel.Did you know that as of March 2025, approximately 2.86 million men and women are serving in the US military? To put that into perspective, that's roughly 38.7 percent of Maricopa County's population.

To thank the troops who currently call Arizona's military bases home and our veterans for their service, Maricopa County's Parks and Recreation Department will waive the $7 per vehicle day-use park entry fee for all active and retired military personnel on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, so they can enjoy time in the parks.

In 2005, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors proclaimed that each Veterans Day would be observed as Military Appreciation Day at all Maricopa County regional parks.

"Today, and every day, we honor the men and women who have served and continue to serve our nation with courage and dedication. Their sacrifices safeguard our freedoms and strengthen the foundation of our communities. On behalf of Maricopa County, I extend our deepest gratitude to all veterans for their unwavering commitment and service to our country," said Thomas Galvin, Chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, District 2.

“Maricopa County is grateful to all who have served in our nation’s armed forces. We invite our active and retired military and their families to enjoy our beautiful regional parks,” said Vice Chair Kate Brophy McGee, District 3.

"District 4 is proud to be home to Luke Air Force Base, a cornerstone of our community and a vital part of our nation's defense. This spring, I had the special opportunity to tour the historic World War II-era Martin Mars seaplane before it was retired at the Pima Air and Space Museum. Stepping aboard such an iconic aircraft was like taking a step back in time—a reminder of the incredible innovation, bravery, and dedication that have defined our military for generations," said Supervisor Debbie Lesko, District 4. "We honor all who have served and continue to serve, and we are grateful for the legacy of excellence that lives on at Luke Air Force Base."

"We often think about the incredible sacrifices made by the brave men and women who serve in our military—but we must also recognize the families who stand beside them," said Maricopa County Supervisor Mark Stewart, District 1. "Their strength, patience, and love are part of every service member's story. We hope this free day in our regional parks provides these families a chance to relax, connect, and enjoy a carefree day together."

"Maricopa County's regional parks are more than beautiful open spaces—they're places where families and communities come together," said Supervisor Steve Gallardo, District 5. "This Veterans Day, we especially honor our military personnel, whose service and sacrifice make our freedoms possible. Whether you're hiking a trail, sharing a picnic, or simply taking in the desert landscape, our parks offer everyone a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and make lasting memories with the people who matter most."

"We are grateful for the opportunity to honor and support those who have served our country," added Jennifer Waller, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Deputy Director. "In addition to waiving day-use entry fees on Veterans Day, we're proud to offer veterans with a service-connected disability a discounted annual pass year-round. It's one small way we can thank them for their service."

At approximately 120,000 acres, Maricopa County is home to one of the largest regional park systems in the United States. The parks are located throughout the County and are all within a 45-minute drive from downtown Phoenix.
