Join Ranger Kevin for a scenic hike and learn more about the amazing Sonoran Desert. Click program title for more details.

This introduction to the Sonoran Desert is perfect for residents and visitors alike. Join Ranger Kevin for a 2-mile hike on the Spur Cross and Metate trails. Trails are rated moderate, so expect stretches of loose rock, uneven terrain and a small amount of elevation change. We’ll be talking about what makes our desert quite possibly the most biodiverse desert on Earth. We’ll also be stopping to observe various plants and animals along the way and dig into the amazing adaptations these desert dwellers have developed that allow them to thrive here. Please wear sturdy closed-toed shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended, and you may find hiking poles useful. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. NO pets, please.
MEETING LOCATION: Spur Cross trailhead (by covered picnic tables)
