“Once, many hikes ago, I saw water flow all the way down the steps and into the wash!” Or so Ranger Shaun says. Do you believe him? Sure, maybe there are puddles sometimes, but a waterfall? Frogs? Aquatic bugs? Well, Ranger Shaun’s headed back up the mountain, checking to see if the Waterfall’s back yet. What do you think? Was it ever there at all? Will you go check? Along the way, Ranger Shaun will point out petroglyphs in the stones and discuss some of the local history as well as the ecology of the Sonoran Desert.
This is a roughly 2-mile hike (round trip) on an easy trail. The first half (approximately) of the trail is concrete like a sidewalk and mostly flat. After we reach the oft discussed End of the Sidewalk, the trail becomes gradually steeper and rougher (though never enough to rate higher than easy.) Please wear sturdy closed toed shoes, sunscreen and a hat, and bring plenty of water. Walking sticks or hiking poles are not required but are welcome if they make you more comfortable. No pets please. MEETING LOCATION: Waterfall Trailhead
