The hike will cover 3.3 miles along sections of the Grey Fox and Ford Canyon trails offering sweeping views of the city lights and the White Tank mountains. All hikers should have close toed shoe, water, a working flashlight (cellphones are not powerful enough) and if you have balance difficulties hiking poles are recommended. Along the hike the ranger will stop to talk about cacti, insects, native trees, reptiles, and birds. On the way back to the parking lot participants will be able to hunt for scorpions and other nocturnal creatures. If you have a blacklight feel free to bring it along but they are not necessary for the hike. There is no water access at the trailhead but there is a porta potty available.
